Atacand is used to treathigh blood pressure(hypertension). Loweringhigh blood pressurehelps prevent strokes,heart attacks, andkidneyproblems. Candesartan belongs to a class of drugs called angiotensin receptor blockers (ARBs). It works by relaxingbloodvessels so blood can flow more easily. Thismedicationis also used to treatheart failure. This medication is not recommended for use in children younger than 1 year due to increased risk of side effects.
How to use Atacand.
Read the Patient Information Leaflet if available from yourpharmacistbefore you start takingatacandand each time you get a refill. If you have any questions, ask your doctor or pharmacist.
Take thismedicationbymouthwith or without food as directed by your doctor, usually once or twice daily.
The dosage is based on your medical condition and response to treatment. In children, the dosage is also based onweight.
side effects.
The most common side effects that can occur with atacand include:
- back pain
- dizziness
- cold- or flu-like symptoms, such as fever, cough, sneezing, and a runny nose
- sore throat
- nasal congestion
If these effects are mild, they may go away within a few days or a couple of weeks. If they’re more severe or don’t go away, talk to your doctor or pharmacist.
